The work included here reflects an interplay between what is seen and what lies beneath—emotions, memories, and societal currents that often go unnoticed. They explore ideas that flow beneath an idea, an image, a feeling. They help answer the question - is what’s on the surface – the expected, the known - all there is, or is there something more? The word undercurrent can evoke mystery, something hidden, or about exploring unconventional ideas, themes or ideas. It can also be an outright challenge to what is accepted as the prevailing truth or the way we think things ought to be.
