FAQ:

Do you offer group workshops? At this point no I do not offer group workshops. I find it easier and more beneficial to students who are really interested in diving into encaustic to take private/small lessons.

What is your cancellation policy? Cancellation 14 days before the class date = full refund minus PayPal fees, or may apply to another class. Cancellation less than 14 days before the class date = 50% refund minus PayPal fees, or may apply the full amount to another class. No show = no refund. If the workshop is canceled by the instructor, you will receive a full refund.

Where are workshops held? All workshops are held in my private art studio next to my home in Troutdale, OR, just 30 min away from the PDX airport. We live on a 4.5-acre property filled with beautiful nature.

Can I pay in installments? Yes, please contact me directly at shannon@shannonamidon.com to set up a payment plan.

Do I have to have any prior experience with Encaustic? No experience is necessary. I will teach you all of the basics, safety, setup, etc. It is a medium like no other and even if you have painting experience encaustic will feel different.

I already know how to use encaustic would this workshop be good for me? Absolutely, I also teach advanced techniques along with my signature image transfer methods. It’s also a great way to pick up new or different ways of doing things and other tips and tricks.

What is encaustic? Encaustic is a Greek word meaning “to heat or burn in” (enkaustikos). Heat is used throughout the process, from melting the beeswax medium to fusing the layers of wax. Encaustic medium consists of natural beeswax and damar resin (crystallized tree sap). The medium can be used alone for its transparency or used pigmented.
